Members and Committees
The Augusta-Richmond County Public Library Board of Trustees consists of 13 members, representing the Richmond County Districts, the County Commission, and the Richmond County Legislators. The Members are:
Mr. N. Staten Bitting, Jr. Mr. Bitting represents District 7.
Ms. Amanda Carroll-Barefield. Ms. Carroll-Barefield represents District 8.
Ms. Earnestine T. Covington. Ms. Covington represents District 4 on the Library Board. She serves as the Vice-President.
Mr. Loran Gray. Mr. Gray is the representative for District 2.
Ms. Shirley Hermitage. Ms. Hermitage is the President of the Friends of the Library, and serves in an Ex Officio capacity on the Board.
Ms. Jane Howington. Ms. Howington represents District 10 on the Board. She is the Board's President.
Mr. Wilfred Hunt. Mr. Hunt represents District 6 on the Board.
Mrs. B. J. Lester. Mrs. Lester is the representative for District 3. She also serves as the Chairman to the Regional Library Board.
Ms. Natalie Schweers is a legislative appointee to the Library Board. Ms. Schweers serves as the Board's Treasurer.
Mr. Jimmy Smith. Mr. Smith is the County Commission's representative to the Library Board.
Ms. Audrey Thomas. Ms. Thomas is a legislative representative to the Board.
Ms. Ella Washington. Ms. Washington represents District 1.
Ms. Margaret Whaley. Ms. Whaley is the representative for District 9.
There is one vacant position on the Board, one being the representative for District 5.
The following Richmond County Board members also serve on the Regional Library Board: Staten Bitting, Amanda Carroll-Barefield, Jane Howington, Natalie Schweers, and Ella Washington. B. J. Lester serves as Chairman of the Regional Library Board.
